Spend more time with family and friends
By Amy Wright | Jun 1, 2021
Spending time with friends and family is something that we can take for granted. In particular, over the past year where it has been difficult to visit loved ones, many people have realized how important it really is to capture those special moments with them.
Creating long-lasting memories with loved ones, whether virtual, socially distanced, or those who live in your home is so important. Even the small, simple memories can make the world of difference to you and your loved ones. Things that you can look back on and reminisce about. These are the things that give life meaning!
This year has definitely highlighted the importance of taking time to be with friends and family. You might have realized how truly delicate life can be. Taking those family vacations, taking the kids out to the park, going to grab food with your partner, staying in for a movie night with the girls. Whatever brings you the most joy, make sure you do these things regularly to gain a sense of fulfillment.
You might find yourself trying to recall exactly what you’ve done for the past few months. It’s actually harder to form memories when you don’t have very much sensory information. In other words, when you’re spending every day indoors, unable to socialize or have new experiences, your memory can get a little hazy. To form more memories, you need to be triggering your sensory system with new and exciting things, and this has been hard for anybody to do over the past year.
However, with the lockdown restrictions being slowly lifted, public places are opening up. You can now go to eat at your favorite restaurants. You can enjoy a film night indoors with a number of your friends. You can finally go and visit loved ones in their homes.
Pushing yourself to reach out to your friends and family is important. It gets you out of the house and into the open air where life is bustling and there are people around to socialize with. This provides the perfect opportunity for you to create memories. And what better to carry them with you forever than capturing them in a photo?
Now more than ever, it’s time to capture sentimental moments and create new memories. Even the small things that you used to take for granted, like being able to eat breakfast in a café, or being able to go shopping with your friends. These simple memories can boost your mental health and give you a sense of gratitude.
You have probably been in the midst of one of these special moments in the past and decided to take out your phone or camera to take lots of photos and videos. This is something that so many people do and for good reason. Capturing these precious, fleeting experiences in a photo enables you to look back on them in years to come. Remember exactly where you were at that point in your life, what smells filled the room, the feelings you had at that exact moment, just by looking at a photo.
It can be frustrating when you're trying to remember a moment from the past, and you can’t quite recall the details. But taking photos whilst you’re out and about means you can reminisce even if your memory fails you (which happens to the best of us)! You can post these photos on your social media accounts for everyone to see, you can keep them safe on your phone, or you can print them to hang proudly in your home.
When you want to save a moment and keep it forever, it’s great to create photo memories. These photos can be printed, framed, and hung up in your home for you to see every single day. You can even get your photos printed onto a canvas to make some extra special wall art to hang in your living room or bedroom.
